What are Varicose and Spider Veins?

Any vein that is superficial can become a varicose vein. This type of vein is a regular vein that has become enlarged and twisted. They are normally the result of walking upright or advancing pressure in the lower body’s veins. Varicose veins are a cosmetic issue for many people; others suffer from discomfort and aching pain. Some varicose veins have become a much more serious health issue that may require a surgical procedure.  What is called spider veins are more superficial blood vessels that are smaller than varicose veins.
